FTTW Poll Time!
by Michele Christopher

Every once in a while we'll throw one of these at you. Just a poll to see who is right and who is wrong. Who just doesn't know what they are talking about and who is way off base.

Today's is easy.

Cameos

That's right. Nice and easy. Movie cameos or *TV cameos.

So who was the best? The funniest or the coolest or just sucked.

turtle breaks out the big book:

As you can all see by the * up above, I play by different rules. See the *? Up there? Means I can go off track and talk about TV.

Simply one of the finest cameos ever in a film? (see the * up there?) I will have to say Johnny and June Cash in Little House on the Prairie. An amazing role for him in a film. (once again, see the * up top? It's right near the top of the page) A stuggling preacher who wasn't really a preacher who want to swindle the town out money. He even sang. I think. Don't hold me to that one.

Thru the PowerofthePrairie he changed his ways.

God bless Charles Ingalls and god bless America. - T

*ed. note. This rule only applies to turtle

Michele surfs in:

hass.jpgDavid Hasselhoff in the Spongebob Squarepants Movie

Yes, I went there.

The coolest sponge this side of contraceptives meets up with the guy who drove KITT? Come on, now. It doesn’t get much better than that. And the fact that Hasselhoff shows up in his Baywatch persona, saving Spongebob and Patrick from a fate worse than death, makes it all the more better. They ride him. They ride the Hasselhoff, dude.

Haven’t you ever wanted to ride the Hasselhoff? No, not like that. Like a surfboard. I don’t know about you, but a lot of my daydreams involves sitting on Hasselhoff’s back plowing through some tasty waves.

No, not really.

But it is my favorite cameo.

Word up. -M

So that’s ours. If you have a question you’d like to see in a future poll, let us know.

For right now, tell us your favorite movie cameo role.

And no, Duval’s turn in Apocalypse now is not really a cameo, guys.

Comments

Okay, Duval's turn in To Kill a Mockingbird, then. Ha! Word Up!

I liked Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in Airplane, but I don't know if that counts as a cameo.

--------------

Not sure if this is really my "favorite," but Chuck Norris in Dodge Ball springs to mind.

Wait, that's the one with the Hasselhoff team, too... screaming at the German team that they're all pigs.

bob hope in spies like us

--------------

Christopher Walken in True Romance, of course.

--------------

Stan Lee in Mallrats.

--------------

Man, that's a tough one. Of the top of my head, I can think of two:

1) Bob Costas in Baseketball
2) Marvin the Robot from the original BBC "Hitchhiker's Guide" miniseries making an appearance in the remade movie from last year.

--------------

Well the only one I can think up off the top of my head is Tom Cruise and Gwyneth Paltrow in Austin Powers: Goldmember.

I thought that whole scene was pretty funny.

**And Johnny Cash was also good as The Gunfighter in Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman.

--------------

All the cameos in ALL the Muppet movies!

I love those movies for the cameos and the muppets. The personalities aren't that much different.

--------------

Steve Martin as the waiter in the small-town restaurant where Kermit and Piggy eat their first dinner in the Muppet Movie

--------------

All the cameos in ALL the Muppet movies!

damn. she beat me to the Muppets

--------------

Carlin in "Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back" - Teaching us how to hitch hike...

Bob Barker in "Happy Gilmore"

--------------

A few immediately spring to mind....

Barbara Billingsley in Airplane

Charles Bukowski in Barfly

Bruce Springsteen in High Fidelity

Bruce Campbell in every Sam Raimi movie he didn't star in

--------------

Barbara Billingsley in Airplane!

--------------

I'm such a loser. I haven't seen most of the movies mentioned here.

Have I mentoned I'm not a big movie watcher?

--------------

yeah remember that Drew Carey episode where he had to be in the battle of the bands, and i guess they were looking for a guitar player and i think ended up with Joe Walsh in the end, but you saw Dave Mustaine and someone else trying out in the backyard.... yeah that one. Ok my favorite cameo was Reverend Horton Heat as the other band in the Battle of the Bands.

oh and um the Rave-Ups as the band on stage in "Some Kind of Wonderful". Or was that "pretty in Pink"? Christ, too many drugs.

--------------

oh wait did i mention.. ME?! I was in a crowd scene in a movie about Jimi Hendrix called "Jimi". Never saw it, though. I think i'm in a documentary from the mid-80s about Melrose Avenue, too.

--------------

dude i'm in pornstar:the ron jeremy story...

i know.. shocker...

--------------

Saddam Hussein in South Park the movie.

--------------

Alec Baldwin in Glenn Garry/ Glenn Ross takes it hands down.

The BEST 3 minutes.

--------------

Alice Cooper in Wayne's World.

--------------

Alec Baldwin in Glenn Garry/ Glenn Ross takes it hands down.

PUT THAT COFFEE DOWN. Coffee is for closers.

Great example of scene-eating gone right.

--------------

Steve Buscemi in Billy Madison, but not Steve Buscemi in Mr. Deeds. Nothing could have saved that horrible remake, although John Turturro's "sneaky-sneaky" was chuckle worthy.

--------------

Hmm. Cameos, huh.

David Bowie in "Zoolander." Sure, the movie was full of cameos, but he judged the walk off, so he's special.

Ron Jeremy in... every non-porn movie he appeared in. Trust me, there are a lot more than you'd think.

The Millennium Falcon in... Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith. Yes, I'm a nerd. Sadly, that was the first cameo that came to mind.

--------------

Big yesses to Bruce Campbell and Stan Lee in Mallrats.

My favorite TV cameo ever is Henry Rollins playing a Professional Asskicker on the Drew Carey Show.

--------------

Neil Patrick Harris as himself in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle:

It's a fucking sausage fest in here, bros. Let's get some poontang, THEN we'll go to White Castle.
--------------

Ooh, Henry Rollins as the prison warden in The New Guy:

Sack up, Nancy!
--------------

Danzig as an archangel in Prophecy II.

--------------

Gavin Rossdale as the demon Balthazar in Constantine. Nyah.

--------------

hey pril, the rave-ups were in the bar/club scene in pretty in pink, while the march violets were in the bar/club scene in some kind of wonderful.

speaking of pretty in pink cameos, andrew dice clay as the doorman for said club.

adam ant in slam dance was a pretty cool cameo, too.

--------------

Bob Barker in "Happy Gilmore".

Will Ferrell in "Wedding Crashers".

James Brolin & Morgan Fairchild in "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure".

"Anchorman" had good cameos.

I'd say Christopher Walken in "Annie Hall", but he wasn't famous then. It's like a cameo in retrospect, though.
