My Own Thing by Shawna Black
A few weeks ago I wrote about Anne and Wendy and their brand new little baby girl, showing a picture of Wendy and baby that I took in the hospital they day after the baby was born. Last week, Anne mentioned to me that Wendy had scheduled an appointment with a major department store to have their family portrait taken. “Umm. No. Let me take the pictures. I’ll do a much better job,” I said. So, we scheduled a time for Saturday, this past, and I got some great shots. Anne, who happens to be the creative director for the ad agency for which I work, sent out an email to the company plugging my services of portraiture. I have three people from work who want me to take their family pictures. Wendy, who works at a radio station, also emailed me to say that she also has a co-worker who wants me to take her family’s pictures. And I’ve also been asked to do the photography for a project at work. For years, I’ve wanted to start my own thing. Maybe it’s time.

I don't know anyone that has ever been satisfied with their department store pictures.
You should totally get in on the portrait bidness.

Thanks Jenn!
Hi Gat!!!!
Richard, I have known people to be happy with their department stores pictures. They just haven't seen any good ones to compare with, I guess. Maybe that will be my advertising angle....

The ad practically writes itself:
Side by side a shot of the same people done at the dept. store and one by you; "They thought they liked this... Until I gave them this."
