The GOP Debates

Didn't watch them.

Haven't watched any of them.

It's like shopping for Christmas decorations in July. Just too damned early.

The Daily Show described their coverage as "Our prelude to the beginning of the set up for the early campaign for the White House".

You can't really blame them though - this is the first time in a long time that no sitting Pres or VP is running, and the field is wide open.

But I can't imagine that anyone can really care right now. Nothing important will happen until at least next January.

In terms of the general, nothing significant until January. That's probably when the nominees will be decided--maybe as late as February 5th.

If you care who the nominees are, though, there'll be some significant action before then.

Of course, most people don't really follow the primaries.

I follow the primaries in a completely detached way - same with the election, actually.

I live in Texas, so, thanks to the Electoral College, my vote doesn't count for shit. Politicians on both sides don't even bother showing up down here.

Yeah, it sucks when the candidates can't even be bothered with you. I live in Oregon, which gets more attention, but still doesn't get a lot. Washington and Oregon have both become pretty blue. I did get to see a town hall with John Edwards recently, though, which was kind of cool.

I think Texas is moving their primary up to Feb. 5 along with half the rest of the country. Which means, if you're planning on voting in the primary, it might actually mean something.

That's like, some political thing right?

Ron Paul is a fucking lunatic.

That's all I wanted to say.
