Part of me understands. You can't just have them bopping around space forever, but dammit, every time there's a decent SciFi show on, they kill it.
At least they get a chance to wrap up the storyline over an entire season vs trying to shut it down with a 2 hour movie --cough--FARSCAPE--cough--.

I'm more bummed by the mild downward spiral in the writing than by the fact that they're ending the series.
It's just such a linear storyline that there's only so much room to maneuver. Some episodes take place outside the arc, to be sure, but how many times can a battlestar run out of something? What's next, a critical shortage of clean socks?
