To say that our daughter and son-in-law are Buffy fans is one of the understatements of the century. They own every season of Buffy and Angel on DVD. Sometimes they go off into "Buffy-speak" and lose their friends and family.
Based on my own love of Firefly and Serenity, we borrowed the first season of Buffy on DVD and watched the first disk last night. Now we'd caught one or two "Buffy-sodes" when the show was in production and I liked them well enough, but we were overseas a lot while it was running and from '94 to '01 and I wasn't watching much of anything back then. Besided...the show was called, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." We enjoy giggling at PeeWee dying in the movie as much as the next guy, but seriously, they were going to keep that story line going how?
After watching Firefly, I should have known better, but I didn't think Joss Whedon's style could make that storyline work. I was wrong.
I'm not going to run out and buy all of the Buffy DVDs myself, I don't have to, we have our daughter to borrow from, but my impressions have certainly changed. If you're a fan of Joss Whedon but ignored Buffy, you might want to think again. Paying attention to the dialogue simply for the pop culture references is entertaining in itself. And we had to back up a couple of times to find out if Willow actually just said what we thought she said.
It's silly, and in case you haven't caught on yet, I'm a huge fan of silly. Silly is a state of grace.

Ack, it's kinda discouraging to think that BTVS is now something that some people can't remember. It wasn't so bad when Angel was still on the air, but now it's all quickly receding in the rear view mirror, even Firefly.
Luckily, we do have the miracle of DVD's to keep us company on dark, lonely nights. ;-)

We just went through the next three episodes.
I see what my daughter and son in law like. What's amazing is how good the acting is. The kid who plays Xander going from geek to predator in "The Pack" was quite honestly creepy as hell.
Good T.V..

I’ve got an Amazon gift certificate burning holes in my pocket,
and I want to get the most bang for my buck.
Enter the Secret Amazon Web Pages:
http://tinyurl.com/38sojf
This is where you’re going to find the "latest sales, rebates, and limited-time offers" from
Amazon, and you can score some pretty deep discounts if you’re a savvy shopper.
Next, there’s the special Sale link. This is open every Friday, and ONLY on Fridays.
You can find the same good discounts here as you would in hidden Deals, although some
Fridays you can really get lucky and make off like an Amazon bandit - I’ve seen discounts
there as low as 75% off sticker price.
