I live in Portland, Oregon. I'm in my mid-twenties. I'm currently doing a term with AmeriCorps. Come 2008, I'll be attending Portland State University for English and Creative Writing. I read. I write fiction. I love to write. I hope to make a living out of it one day. Camping, hiking, exploring the woods and the mountains, sitting by streams, staring at and listening to the waves of the ocean, breathing cold air, putting my hands in rivers--these are all things I love to do. I'm liberal. I'm inquisitive. I hope to learn new things every day and I'm finally at the point in my life when I actually like to and look forward (for the most part) to meeting new people. I like zoos and museums and I can walk around a good bookstore for hours and hours, and spend way too much money, and ultimately not give a damn because I have a pile of new books, and there's little more you need in life. I used to write a blog called The Between. It's defunct now, but still around, for anyone interested in archives. Glacier National Park is currently my favorite place in the world, though I'm sure there are other places out there I haven't visited yet that I would enjoy even more. As for the music, I love the newer forms of folk, alternative (whatever the hell that means anymore, which I think is nothing) some of the better emo, indie rock, a little bit of alt-country and so on. I have a last.fm profile you can check out if you want to have a more complete understanding of my taste in music. I think it represents me pretty well. Oh, and is there much better in life than good live music? That's right, there isn't. Except, perhaps, a fantastic book.
