car of the night: a whole bunch of movie/tv cars by Michele Christopher
Well it's Saturday night. We wanted to have more fun on the site. We have so many ideas from you guys we are going to start them next week. Music and cars and show stories. But for now? This was someone else's idea.mr. b andw, asked us to do a list of cool car in movies. This is for you. This is a list of some of the cool cars you have seen in movies and on TV. We missed alot of cars, we know we are not perfect, we know that and we want your input. (Anything marked with an (R) is a reader suggested vehicle). * Christine - a 1958 Plymouth Fury And special mention to the Millennium Falcon, which someone in the comments astutely reminds us the ultimate driving machine. Yea, some of you may know of my Star Wars geekiness. That's another subject for another day. Right now, I'm gonna let the Falcon stand as a car, of sorts. Just because. What cool cars have you seen? Something that made you jump and say "Fuck, that's fucking cool, dude." We have ours. What are yours? A-Team theme TrackBackListed below are links to weblogs that reference car of the night: a whole bunch of movie/tv cars:

Though the movie sucks (but the TV shaw was awesome) I believe you are missint the 1969 Charger also known as the General Lee.
You are also missing the 1976 Trans Am from Smokey And The Bandit. I've owned a '77 and a '78 (last two years of that series) and I can attest to the badassedness of those cars.

Herbie? (the original, of course)
Greased Lightning?
Corvette Summer?
That's all the rest I can think of for now.

That is a great list!
The Elanore Mustang from Gone in 60 Seconds would be a good one to go on there.
Also the Ferarri Daytona Spyder that Crockett drove in Miami Vice was very cool.
(I loved the 'Interceptor' car from the Mad Max movies by the way...)

Back when I was growing up I knew a priest, (yes, a priest!) who had a '66 cuda with huge extender pipes, a raised rear end and racing slicks(!) which he used to smoke coming out of the church parking lot!
Needless to say, he didn't stay a priest.

my ex-drummer has models he's built of all the cars mentioned here. Including the presidential assasination lincoln continental convertible and all the important cars from American Grafitti.
Other ones not mentioned, though, are the original Batmobile, which was a GTO and i can't remember the year, like a 66 or 67 i think, the ambulance from Ghostbusters which was some 50s GM product i think. No one's mentioned the Bundy's Dodge! probably a good thing. Greased Lightning pic is here http://www.meezingbioscoop.nl/grease/song_GreasedLightning.htm
it was a Ford Coupe

The 1970 Hemi Challenger from "Vanishing Point" belongs on this list, as does that funky little kewl Jaguar E-Type custom hearse from "Harold and Maude".
"Gumball Rally" gave us the 429 AC Cobra & the Ferrari 365 GTB Daytona to ogle -at speed, no less- in addition to some damned fine other machinery ( the 'Benz SL Gullwing featured in the film is a bonafide work of art ).
What about cars with just plain intestinal fortitude? Who can forget the Little Red Valiant that Could in Stephen King's "Duel"? The ( dented ) Mustang GT and the bad-assed-black Dodge Charger from "Bullitt"?
And we mustn't forget the Ian Flemming movie that started this car thing for so many of my generation: "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang".

... and the 64 malibu from Repo Man

Please remove the Miami Vice "Daytona", since it was a Corvette-based kit car.
They sold the bejeesus out of those for a few years, then Ferrari sued all the kit makers.
Now the follow-up white Ferrari Testarossa that they used when the series became a hit and Michael Mann had some $$ to spend, that was cool.

I know the Miami Vice Daytona was really a modified 'Vette in real life, but in the imaginary world of 'the tv show' it was a Ferrari Daytona... Emphasis on imaginary here...

Sorry, turtle, about messin' up the theme. How's about this though: I'm writing a 'blaxploitation' film, set around Detroit, with an older black detective as my lead...what sort of ride should he have? At first I was thinkin of that 'Bullet' Charger, but how's about a '71 Rivera? With that sharp pointy tail, and those sharp edges? Just thinkin' out loud, and am open to any advice...
